EXCLUSIVE: Richards Bay coach Pitso Dladla shares view on Kaizer Chiefs’ penalty

Richards Bay coach Pitso Dladla has shared his view on the penalty that was awarded to their opponents Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

It was Dillan Solomons who stepped up and converted from the spot in what was the only goal of the match that handed Amakhosi victory.

Even though his comments weren’t crystal clear, Dladla suggested that his defender Sibusiso Mthethwa – who was adjudged to have made contact with Kaizer Chiefs’ Kgaugelo Sekgota – is too experienced to commit such a foul.

PITSO DLADLA ON KAIZER CHIEFS’ PENALTY

“Look, I just want to be cautious with this one because at the end of the day we accept the defeat, we are saying congratulations to Kaizer Chiefs,” Dladla said when asked by The South African after the match.

“We shouldn’t sound like sour losers, I haven’t seen it but knowing Sibusiso Mthethwa the experience he’s got in this league, he wouldn’t commit the penalty there because the player [Kgaugelo Sekgota] was facing his goals or the draw line.

“But I just believe that it was out of the player’s brilliance maybe to wait for him while maybe Sibusiso is not checking that the player is not moving forward to have a contact if there was a contact.

“But it was not a contact whereby for him he wanted to get reach of the ball because he wanted to guide him. Sometimes it happens you just guide you’re to close to the player, some players they just look use the side mirrors, as soon as you come closer they stop so that you will make a contact but all I know he’s so experienced for him to create a penalty out of that situation.
