Ricardo Goss: Maybe I joined Sundowns at the wrong time

SuperSport United goalkeeper Ricardo Goss has admitted that competing with Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene and Reyaad Pieterse at Mamelodi Sundowns was tough.

Goss joined Sundowns from Bidvest Wits two seasons ago, but he often found himself out in in the stands as Onyango owned the No.1 jersey at Sundowns.

It is for that reason he jumped at the opportunity to join SuperSport United on loan in order to enhance his chances of playing regular football.

And while Goss did get a chance to play nine games during his stay with Sundowns, he feels perhaps he wasn’t ready to deal with the stiff competition.

His lack of game time has made Goss question the timing of his move to Sundowns, saying perhaps he joined them at the wrong time.

“I’m not going to lie to you, those are top goalkeepers not to take away from other keepers I’ve worked with. It was very hard to just take that number one spot,” Goss said as per Sowetan.

“I did get my chances, maybe I wasn’t ready, but I learned a lot from them. I can take that they are top keepers. I probably got there at the wrong time.”
