Rhulani Mokwena pledges loyalty to Mamelodi Sundowns: ‘I’m going nowhere’

Rumours have been circulating in recent weeks that some of the biggest football clubs in North Africa in particular are interested in Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena’s services.

However, Mokwena has pledged his loyalty to the Tshwane club and stated that he has no intention of leaving anytime soon.

Since taking on the role of head coach at Chloorkop, Mokwena has overseen a record-breaking 15-match winning streak, culminating in a 5-1 win over Royal AM on Tuesday evening in the DStv Premiership.

That win took Mamelodi Sundowns’ points total in the DStv Premiership to 59, putting them 20 points ahead of second-placed SuperSport United.

“I am here, and I want to be here for as long as the club wants me,” said Mokwena ahead of the team’s upcoming clash with Al Hilal in a Group B CAF Champions League match in Sudan.

“Mamelodi Sundowns has supported me and given me everything. I have no reason to turn my back on this beautiful club.”

Mokwena also stressed his loyalty and honesty, and stated that he would remain at the club as long as they appreciate him and show that they still want him there.

“I try to serve this club for as long as they appreciate me here,” he said.

“I am loyal, and I try to be as honest as I possibly can with my day-to-day activities.”

Mamelodi Sundowns’ next match will be against Al-Hilal in the CAF Champions League at Al Hilal Stadium on Saturday, 18 March.
