REVEALED | Why Thembinlkosi Lorch was absent for Orlando Pirates 

Orlando Pirates claimed a crucial 2-1 win over Cape Town City at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday, but did so without talisman Thembinkosi Lorch.

Lorch has played a vital role for Pirates since returning from a five month injury lay off that he suffered after five games of the current season.

Just this week, Lorch opened up for the first time on his injury problems at Pirates, and said that he benefited from not thinking about football at all while he was out. Ironically, it seems like he has taken yet another knock. This comes after he was a noticeable absentee in the Buccaneers home win against City and after the match, coach has revealed why he was not in the match day squad. 

Why Lorch was missing for Pirates

“No drama but Lorch is an important player, it goes without saying but you see today the group took responsibility and performed well, We are hoping to see him back as soon as possible.It is a minor thing but it happened too close to the games so we didn’t have the magain to solve it.” Said Pirates coach Riveiro according to FarPost.

Riveiro did give Pirates fans a reason to be optimistic about Lorch’s recovery, however, as he sees him coming back in time to play against arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semifinals at the FNB Stadium on the 6th of next month.

Besides the injury, Riveiro also praised the impact Lorch has had on the Pirates side after coming back from the long-term injury.

“I’m happy with him because he is finding joy in the games and during the week and we all get the benefit of that” said Riveiro on Lorch.

Lorch has made just the appearances this season, as a result of that injury and has found scored three goals, in all competitions. Pirates fans will be hoping he recovers from his latest set back soon.
