Chiefs, however, did not disclose the reason why they had opted to suspend Zuma, on their statement, which then had many suspicious.

Zuma scored his first goal

Chiefs had just come from a disappointing 2-1 loss to Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium on Saturday. Funny enough, it was during that game that Zuma scored his first goal of the season, pulling one back for Amakhosi with sevens minutes to spare. However, it would prove too little too late for the home side.

It was an encouraging sign for Zuma, however, though as he had been said to be working hard while biding his time for place in the side since being recalled from his initial suspension. Chiefs had previously suspended the player due to alleged drink driving charges last year, and it took a long time for him to get anywhere near the match day squad. Eventually he found himself included in a few by now former coach Stuart Baxter, but has since been able to get a few minutes on the pitch after getting a new lease on life from interim co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard.

Reason why Chiefs suspended him

Now having worked so hard to get himself back in the good book at Chiefs, it came as a shock to many when the club announced that Zuma had been suspended again, on their social media platforms. Now although the club fell short from confirming why they had suspended the former Bloemfontein Celtic star, it has now been reported by SABC Sport that the decision stems from the player arriving to training in a ‘poor condition’ on Sunday morning.

“SABC Sport understands that Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Dumisani Zuma allegedly arrived at training on Sunday morning in a poor condition. This was just a day after scoring his first goal in over a year at Amakhosi.” Read their tweet.

End of the road?

It now remains to be seen whether this could prove to be the final nail in the coffin for Zuma at Chiefs, with the club having shown patience with him previously.
