REVEALED | Kaizer Chiefs board leaning towards appointing this experienced coach! 

Kaizer Chiefs could potentially decide the fate of their coach Arthur Zwane as early as this week, having had a meeting about his position on Wednesday.

Kaizer Chiefs could potentially decide the fate of their coach Arthur Zwane as early as this week, having had a meeting about his position on Wednesday.

Zwane was appointed Chiefs coach on a three-year contract the beginning of the recently concluded season, but endured a torrid time.

At the start of the Zwane-era Chiefs made a massive clear out, getting rid of some experienced players, some of which had not been able to lead Amakhosi to any silverware during their lengthy stays at the club.

A lot of the players that were released by Chiefs were over 30-years-old with the majority never winning a trophy while at the club. Besides the Bernard Parker, the likes of Daniel Cardoso, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Leonardo Castro and Daniel Akpeyi had never touched any silverware during their careers at the club.

After that, Chiefs invested in players who were either younger or in their prime years, like Ashley du Preez, Zitha Kwinika, George Matlou, Dillon Solomons and Yusuf Maart to name but a few. With new acquisition Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, 24, Given Msimango, 26, and Mduduzi Mdantsane, 28, all proving consistent with Zwane’s strategy. But if news coming out today is anything to go by, he might not be at the club to oversee the second phase of his vision as head coach next season.

That is because, according to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs are seriously considering the appointment of Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi,  while the outcomes of Wednesday’s meeting are still being kept under wraps.

“the Siya crew has been informed that whispers in the corridors at Naturena is that the club is considering current Mamelodi Sundowns senior coach Manqoba Mngqithi. It is unclear what Mngqithi’s role would be at the club and where Zwane fits into the equation at this stage, but insiders have confirmed that he is a strong consideration for the club at this stage.” Wrote the publication.

Mngqithi’s deal at Sundowns is set to expire on June 30 and while he is thought to surplus to requirements at Masandawana, another man’s trash could certainly be another man’s treasure.
