Reported Kaizer Chiefs target Khanyisa Mayo has been ruled out for a significant spell after the extent of his knee injury was revealed.

Reported Kaizer Chiefs target, Caoe Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo, will spend several weeks on the sidelines.

Mayo sustained the injury a week ago when City played against Supersport United in a DStv Premiership fixture and the severity of that injury has now been revealed.

Kaizer Chiefs target Mayo set for spell on the sidelines

According to iDiski Times, Mayo suffered a minor Medial ligament (MCL) tear in his knee, and will be out for three to four weeks. The 24-year-old missed City’s recent clash against Orlando Pirates which they won by 2-1 at Cape Town Stadium.

The former Richards Bay forward is now doing his rehab and is expected to be back in training within the next few weeks. The Mother City side, buoyed by their impressive and entertaining win over Pirates, next travel to the Eastern Cape to face Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday (17:30). The Mother City outfit could climb to 5th position with all three points, depending on other results.

Meanwhile, he weekend kicks off with AmaZulu vs Kaizer Chiefs on Friday evening.
