PSL transfer news: Golden Arrows sign ex-Gallants defender

Golden Arrows have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of former Marumo Gallants defender Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo.

Golden Arrows have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of former Marumo Gallants defender Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo.

Hlatshwayo joins Arrows on a free transfer as he had not been attached to any team since leaving Gallants in September.

The Newcastle-born defender was deemed surplus to requirements by then coach Romain Folz, and he left Gallants with 12 matches under his belt.

He becomes Arrows’ first major signing ahead of the opening of the mid-sesason transfer window on 1 January.

While Hlatshwayo has put pen to paper with Arrows, he can only feature for them after being registered with the PSL in January although the season resumes at the end of December.

Arrows will welcome Kaizer Chiefs on New Year’s eve but Hlatshwayo will not feature as the transfer window would still be closed but he should be available for selection when his side takes on SuperSport United on 7 January.

The Durban-based outfit took to their social media platforms to announce Hlatshwayo’s signing although details around his contract length were not disclosed.

“We are delighted to confirm the signing of Central Defender Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo to the Green & Gold Army,” Arrows announced.

“Sthende Nation, let’s welcome him to the family.”
