The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed the dates and times for the fixtures for the upcoming promotion-relegation playoff tournament.

All the National First Division participants have been settled but we are yet to determine which top-flight side will be fighting for their lives.

The playoffs have historically favoured the team fighting relegation with Platinum stars being the last top-flight team relegated via the playoffs back in 2018.

The Promised land

University of Pretoria are chasing a second promotion to the top-flight and Cape Town All Stars hunt their first trip to the big time.

As to who will face them it is a bun fight between TS Galaxy, Swallows FC, Baroka FC and perhaps Maritzburg United although the Team of Choice have an extra match to win safety, albeit against Orlando Pirates.

NFD Champions Richards Bay will join the PSL next season and if Maritzburg avoid the drop there will be five top-flight teams based in KwaZulu-Natal with headquarters not only in Durban, but the Midlands and the North Coast as well.

Maritzburg United face bottom club Baroka FC this weekend with a chance to clinch safety, if not they face Orlando Pirates next Tuesday and just need a point from either game to be safe.

Things are looking grim for Swallows, who face Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs on the final day and could even find themselves going straight down if other results don’t go their way.

TS Galaxy can move above Chippa United when they meet on the final day, but the Eastern Cape side cannot be relegated as they are out of reach for the bottom two.
