Kaizer Chiefs are in Durban on Heritage Day, taking on an AmaZulu outfit reeling from a big change.

The KwaZulu-Natal side has seen a shake-up at the helm, following a tough start to the season, where they failed to win a game in five attempts, resulting in them being rooted at the bottom of the league standings.

Ex-Polokwane City coach Jozef Vukusic is the man tasked with rescuing Usuthu’s season after the club parted ways with Cavin Johnson.

The Serb did get the better of Amakhosi while in charge of Rise and Shine, but is wary of the threat the club poses after falling to his former team in their last outing.

“I think it’s going to be a tough game because the last result for Kaizer Chiefs was not so good. They will come for redemption against us. But in our situation we can’t look into that we must look into our performance. That’s what we will do. We will try to put good performance in all areas,” he said.

The defeat to Polokwane was the first for Chiefs in the current season, and has placed them in fourth place on the log, dropping down from the summit.

According to coach Ernst Middendorp, the club is determined to rediscover the winning formula.

“We have not changed much in terms of our approach to this game,” Middendorp told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

“It is important to create a winning combination. Of course, we had to work on the mistakes we committed in the previous match. And I think we have done our homework.”

While the changes in the opposite camp could yet still play into his side’s hands, the German mentor revealed he hasn’t paid much attention to that in the lead up to the game.

“They are going through some changes and surely they’re not comfortable with their start to the season,” Middendorp added.

“But this is the time that you mind your business. We have our own ambitions to cater for. So, their situation didn’t factor in our planning for the match.”
