Another highly-anticipated Soweto Derby awaits as Orlando Pirates look to stop a rampant Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The two titans of the local game met in the Telkom Knockout last Saturday, and do battle once more in a league encounter just seven days later.
This time there’s three points on the line, and it will be a big test for the Buccaneers against a side which has displayed a ruthless streak this season.
Amakhosi have beaten almost all comers, and their confidence will have skyrocketed after another victory in their midweek outing.
They have recorded five straight league wins, and will look to add one more against a side they needed the intervention of a penalty shootout to put away in the recent cup encounter.
That result was the first blemish in what has been a near-perfect record in the Soweto Derby for Pirates in the past few years.
Hence, they will be aiming to prevent any shift of momentum between the two fierce rivals by bringing out the goods once more on Saturday.
A stalemate in their last outing saw the Buccaneers move up to seventh in the league table, and victory could see them surge up as high as third, depending on the weekend’s other results.
