Teboho Mokoena has been awarded the Premier Soccer League goal of the Month for January 2019. This comes with his outstanding performance against Bloemfontein Celtic.

PSL goal of the month a screamer

Mokoena gave a powerful strike to score an absolute screamer from outside the box to win the game for Supersport United.

The result at the end of the game was 2-1, leaving Bloemfontein Celtic reeling at the loss.

PSL battle for top four

This goal helped Supersport United to a victory that kickstarted their resurgence following two losses against Cape Town City and Black Leopards and a draw with Highlands Park.

This game has formed part of an intense battle for a top four position with Supersport United and Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs currently in the fringes.

Supersport United is currently in the fifth position on the table with Chiefs just below them at number seven.

Mokoena’s goal received the most votes out ten other players that scored belters throughout the season.

Among the ten nominees are spectacular goals scored by players; Puleng Tlolane, Bernard Parker, Tshwarelo Bereng, Elias Pelembe, Jabulane Maluleke, Hlompo Kekana, Gift Motupa, Mwape Musonda and Matome Kgoetyane.

Rising PSL star, Mokoena

Mokoena is a 22 year old central midfielder, who made his professional debut in 2016.

Despite his tender age he has made over 50 appearances for Supersport United and has already featured in the South African National team, Bafana Bafana.

This season Mokoena has scored three goals and made one assist. Black Leopards’ Mwape Musonda leads the scoring charts with 12 goals so far this season.
