It won’t be long before PSL fans are welcomed back into the stadiums BUT Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns will have to fork out huge money to make it happen!
According to SoccerLaduma’s official website, the Premier Soccer League executive committee is currently holding discussions behind the scenes about the return of spectators.
PSL fans are eager to return having not seen a live DStv Premiership game since March last year.
Currently, the main concerns are costs and safety related.
The Covid-19 pandemic means that their will be more staff needed to assure all safety protocols are followed.
Which will cost the ‘Big 3’ an absolute fortune! Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns could pay as much as R1 MILLION per match in additional expenses.
Especially for Category A matches such as the Soweto Derby if fans are allowed to return in time for this match. It remains a possibility with the potential of 2000 returning fans as seen with Bafana Bafana vs Ethiopia at FNB Stadium earlier this month.
Sundowns turn their attention towards their MTN8 final against Cape Town City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Pirates are in action against Royal AM on Thursday while Chiefs take on Stellenbosch FC next Tuesday.
