Kaizer Chiefs and their Twitter beef with the City of Joburg

Where to begin with this? What started as a seemingly harmless LOL, which was surely intended as a funny meme to get some clicks, has been blown out of proportion. Sure, it’s offensive to see your team’s jersey placed in a dustbin, but the City of Joburg didn’t mean any harm. The two parties have kissed and made up though.

Three changes that could guarantee silverware for Orlando Pirates on Saturday

Orlando Pirates have a little bit of thinking to do before their MTN8 final date with AmaZulu. I’ve done some of that thinking for them. Riveiro needs to make a surprise selection in attack and build his side around Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo. I’ve gone into this in detail so click the link below if you’d like to read those insights.

Yusuf Maart for the Puskás award?

I’ve seen some staggeringly good goals in my time, and I’ve gotta say, Maart’s Soweto Derby strike is right up there. Perhaps it isn’t as good as Olivier Giroud’s scorpion kick against Crystal Palace but that’s just a subjective issue of taste and preference. FIFA likes it too, and that’s what truly matters.

Look what the cat dragged in, it’s Victor Gomes!

Well, well, well, if it isn’t Victor Gomes once again making the news. This time it’s because the infamous referee has actually announced his retirement. Yes, he’s hanging up his whistle. There’s no doubting his pedigree as a top-shelf referee over the years, but his attention-seeking antics have sometimes been questionable. As a PSL fan, how do you feel about the 39-year-old?

Messi makes magic on the regular

I’ll never grow tired of the wizardry that this man produces as if it were just a normal day at the office. His highlights reel for PSG in roughly 18 months is something that most world-class strikers would envy even if it was a snapshot of their entire career. Just enjoy him while he’s still around.

Where is Ndumiso Mabena?

The ex-Orlando Pirates striker has been on trial with the Buccaneers for a while but the situation is still about as clear as mud. Maybe my knowledgeable colleague Siseko Gwegwe can shed some light on the issue? Other than that, Pirates are preparing for a massive MTN8 final. You’ve heard my thoughts already so below I’ll link you to a quick news wrap.
