The saga surrounding midfielder Sipho Mbule at SuperSport had recently taken a new twist after he was suspended indefinitely by the club.

Already when speaking to SA FM last year, SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews said Mbule’s ill-discipline is the reason he would not be sold to any club at that stage, despite having reportedly been on the radar of both Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns in this past January transfer window.

Yet, Matthews revealed last week that discipline issues were the reason behind the player still being absent from training, and then, in an interview on the METROFMSA Sports Show, the CEO reiterated that Mbule is not in the right head space, was unreliable and would not feature again for the club.

In yet another twist, KickOff.com reports Embattled Sipho Mbule is reportedly set to sensationally move from SuperSport to Sundowns in a swap deal with Promise Mkhuma.

Sundowns apparently stated their intention to sign the midfielder from SuperSport, with the two clubs now finalising a deal that will include Promise Mkhuma heading in the opposite direction.

In an interview with FARPost, Mbule’s ex-coach Pitso Mokoena has revealed that he was called in to offer some guidance to the embattled player.

“I think the last time I spoke with Sipho was last week. You know it’s very difficult for him. I tried to advice him until whatever happened because the boy couldn’t wait to push for an exit from SuperSport,” said Mokoena.

“I have said to Sipho, look, you want to move out of SuperSport, but the club have got their reasons to keep you. Stay calm and play for the team – don’t burn bridges. Make sure you leave SuperSport in a good relationship because you will never know what will happen in the future. Honour your contract, do your best until your contract is finished, then you move out.”

Previously, Matthews stated that it was suspected that Mbule may well be trying to force a move away from the club.

“He hasn’t been reliable, not to himself or his teammates. And quite frankly, we’d rather play without Sipho and perhaps finish a couple places lower in the league, but have a team that is unified, that is disciplined, fights for each other and respects each other.”

Earlier this year, his agent Mike Makaab said everything regarding Mbule’s future will be clearer by May, but it’s clear that he will leave SuperSport at the end of the season.

Recently, former Bafana player Alton Meiring said out-of-favour Sipho Mbule needed to show mental strength rather than just sulk

“Mbule just needs to keep working because there is always reward for putting in the hard work,” former Sundowns and South Africa player Aton Meiring had told KickOff.com.

“He (Mbule) must still keep working on earning that move that he desires the same way he has done in raising the interest in the past. This is his career and so he must be first to show the desire.

“The player might not be happy, but the club cannot stop him from the joy of working towards what he needs for his career. He has a contract and so must honour it by working the same way he has done all these years.

“He must also look into his lifestyle instead of feeling like a victim in this situation. It is up to how strong he is in this situation.

“He must be the first at training and last to leave so that he sends a message to the club about that his mind is up to it.”
