Orlando Pirates welcome long-time rivals Swallows FC to the Orlando Stadium in their opening league match of the 2022-23 season on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

The Buccaneers head into this clash on the back of making changes to both their playing personnel and technical team.

Jose Riveiro is the new man in charge of Bucs this season, and he came in with his own technical team but retained Mandla Ncikazi as one of his assistants.

There are also five new signings that were brought in, and they include Miguel Timm, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Evidence Makgopa, Tapelo Xoki and Bienvenu Eva Nga.

All eyes will certainly be on Pirates in this encounter, especially their defence after losing Happy Jele, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Ntsikelelo Nyauza among others.

Their strikeforce will also be under the spotlight, and everyone would want to see how new signing Eva Nga performs after doing well during pre-season.

For Swallows, this is a tricky encounter and perhaps an interesting one after getting rid of a number of players who were part of the team last season.

Coach Dylan Kerr was retained after helping Swallows avoid relegation via the playoffs, and it will be interesting to see how they deal with losing Ruzaigh Gamildien, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, George Matlou and Dillan Solomons among others.

This original Soweto Derby between Pirates and Swallows will be screened LIVE on SuperSport PSL channel 202 on the day.
