Orlando Pirates welcome the high-flying Royal AM to the Orlando Stadium in a mouth-watering DStv Premiership clash this afternoon.

The Buccaneers head into today’s clash in seventh position on the DStv Premiership log standings with just 10 points from their opening seven matches.

Should Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids’ side have any ambitions of chasing Mamelodi Sundowns down in terms of the league title race, a victory today is a must!

Royal AM on the other hand could shoot up to second on the log standings with a victory this afternoon but more importantly they’ll move just three points behind Mamelodi Sundowns albeit with an additional game played.

Orlando Pirates vs Royal AM: Latest INJURY updates

Orlando Pirates have been rocked by a number of injuries to crucial players ahead of this afternoon’s clash. Key striker Tshegofatso Mabasa and goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands are the latest to pick up knocks at the Buccaneers.

Vincent Pule, Innocent Maela, Thembinkosi Lorch and Zakhele Lepasa are expected to be ruled out through injury while Richard Ofori, Elson Sithole and Linda Mntambo remain doubtful to feature this afternoon.

We can keep another clean sheet – Ncikazi

“The whole defence stood their ground against Diables. The midfield did exceptionally well,” Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi said ahead of this afternoon’s clash.

“Let us take the same spirit and determination into the next game against Royal AM. If we play the way we did against Diables, we will keep another clean sheet and win on Thursday. We are taking it one game at a time as we are trying to improve our team.”

“Of course we are playing a difficult side, an awkward side with a five defence line. It’s a continuity of Bloemfontein Celtic of last season, plus adding the strength of the Royal AM players.” Fellow Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids added.

“It’s a really tough encounter, one we have to unlock a five defence line, one we have to signify our dominance in the game. We have a home game and it’s about Orlando unlocking and scoring goals,”
