Orlando Pirates face Golden Arrows in their next DStv Premiership match this Saturday at home.

It’s the Buccaneers’ first showing at the legendary Orlando Stadium since domestic football returned, while their opponents are on the road for the first time since October.

The Soweto Giants have struggled on the road in recent weeks, with zero points scored in their last two games.

A setback in Cape Town over the weekend dropped them from fifth to eighth position in the PSL standings, making it three straight losses in the league, with four points given by a solitary win and a draw in their last five games.

A return to familiar ground gives an opportunity for Pirates to turn their fortunes around, but they will have to do it against a team that has recently joined the top half of the rankings thanks to a hard-fought home victory in their last outing.

In their last five games, the Arrows have fared marginally better than the Buccaneers, winning twice and losing three.

The two teams account for half of the four teams now tied on 19 points, with three having the same goal difference halfway through the season.

Team news

The Pirates are still missing numerous key players due to injury, but they are encouraged by the impending return of fullback Tebogo Tlolane, who is recovering from a niggle that has kept him out for weeks.

They will be concerned about the potential absence of Thabiso Monyane, who missed the journey to Cape Town due to a knock picked up at training.

Meanwhile, Arrows will be without midfielder Siyabonga Khumalo, who is serving a two-match ban for his role in his team’s defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in December.
