Orlando Pirates have been active in the transfer market with no fewer than eight players released while they have signed six new faces to date.

The Buccaneers were expected to overhaul their squad following what was a disappointing 2021/22 campaign which saw them finish outside the top three.

Orlando Pirates also missed out on the CAF Confederation Cup title after losing to Moroccan side RS Berkane in the final.

Shortly after the season wrapped up, Orlando Pirates parted ways with co-coach Fadlu Davids who had arrived at the club in 2019 to work with then coach Josef Zinnbauer.

Now, the playing personnel also needed a bit of reshuffling, and the Soweto giants’ management has done just that with new acquisitions while getting rid of others.

TRANSFER TALK: TWO TARGETS CHIEFS UNLIKELY TO SIGN

Gabadinho Mhango and Thulani Hlatshwayo were the first two to leave Orlando Pirates with the former joining AmaZulu in a swap deal involving Tapelo Xoki.

Hlatshwayo left the Buccaneers due to a lack of game time and is yet to find a new club.

On Monday, Orlando Pirates parted ways with Abel Mabaso, Justice Chabalala, Elson Sithole, Wayne Sandilands, Thabang Monare and Kwanda Mngonyama, bringing the number of departures to eight.

Xoki was the first player to join Orlando Pirates along with Nkosinathi Sibisi who arrived from Golden Arrows.

Miguel Timm and Evidence Makgopa were also unveiled on Monday from Marumo Gallants and Baroka FC, respectively.

They will join the Buccaneers along with now former Chippa United duo Bienvenu Eva Nga and Azola Matrose who both left a very good impression last season.
