Orlando Pirates will be working over time to ensure that they revamp their squad ahead of next season.

This includes the both players that will be leaving or joining Pirates during this up coming transfer window.

In terms of outs, six players who were going to see their contract expire soon have left. Souaibou Marou, Fortune Makaringe, Kermit Erasmus, Richard Ofori, Thabang Monare and Siyabonga Mpontshane were all released by Pirates. Those being players who have seen their deals at expire at the club, with management deeming them surplus to requirements. There are still players who are under contract who could be loaned out, sold or see their deals terminated at the Houghton-based outfit.

Pirates expected to sign Mbatha as first addition

In terms of signings, Pirates are expected to trigger their clause to make Thalente Mbatha’s loan from SuperSport United permanent. It is thought that it is only a matter of time before the player puts pen to paper on a deal at the club. Another player who was tipped to have been as good as signed is ex-Burnley striker Tremaine Eastmond

This publication reported earlier in the year that Eastmond impressed at Pirates and he was a likely to be signed. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, the young forward could make his unofficial debut against Sevilla, in the first game of pre-season.

“He (Eastmond) is a talented youngster, and he left a lasting impression at the club (Pirates) during his trial. There is a possibility for him to be signed,” said a source to the publication.

Eastmond to follow?

Mbatha and Eastmond could be the first of many incomings for Pirates. with the likes Chippa United keeper Stanley Nwabali the favourite in the goalkeeping department. In defence, the likes of Kegan Johannes, Thabang Matuludi, Riaan Hanamub, Ismael Toure have been names frequently mentioned.

Thato Khiba has also been mentioned and Goodman Mosele is expected to return to Pirates from his loan from Chippa. In attack,Eastmond, Andy Boyeli, Ashley Cupido, Oswin Appollis and Iqraam Rayners are thought to be targets too.
