Interest in former Orlando Pirates winger Thabo Rakhale has spiked following revelations made by Sangoma and reality TV star Gogo Maweni.

Maweni has sensationally claimed that she used ‘muthi’ to end Rakhale’s career at Orlando Pirates after a romantic relationship with the player went south.

The controversial Sangoma made the claims while appearing Gigi Lamayne’s podcast Point of View.

Maweni says that she took action after the player left her as a jilted lover and claims to have also used witchcraft on other PSL footballers.

“I have ancestors and they hear me when I cry. I’ve also had enough,” she said.

“I didn’t do anything that anybody wouldn’t do. When I say ‘wouldn’t do’ when something is above you you tell your ancestors and God, and what they do with it it’s their problem, not mine.”

Wasted talent

Rakhale falls into a group of players who have come through the doors at Mayfair and demomstrated audacious skills and talent but failed to make good on their promise.

Despite his talent, Rakhale was never more than a fringe player at Orlando Pirates and struggled for game-time despite eventually racking up 86 appearances for the Sea Robbers.

Following the end of his time in Soweto Rakhale found himself at Chippa United, but he could not nail down a place in the Eastern Cape and proceeded to bounce around Limpopo clubs for a time.

He was released by Sekhukhune United in February of this year and has not been handed a professional contract since.

While we can’t be certain that there was no curse it has become evident that Rakhale fell in with bad influences which likely was at the root of his career going down the drain.
