Zothwane is said to have caught the eye of Pirates management who are now believed to be interested in his services.
Zothwane’s infamous Sundowns vs Chiefs tug-of-war during his playing days
Zothwane, who many would remember due to a protracted tug-of-war that ensued over his services between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs during his playing days. Chiefs were adamant that they had signed former midfielder, even unveiling the player with the club jersey and number six jersey. Sundowns would then enter the fray and produce documents showing that they had signed him first from Golden Arrows.

In the end Chiefs would eventually lose out on Zothwane’s services with the skillful former Bafana Bafana international ending up honouring his deal with Sundowns. Chiefs would then end up suing the player for R500 000. Now fast forward to his coaching career, it looks as if he could be finally making an official move to Soweto, but this time, in the black and white colours of arch-rivals Pirates.
Pirates have shown interest in making him their DDC coach
Before reaching the opportunity to coach Uthongathi in the GladAfrica Championship, Zothwane had been honing his skills and paying his dues in the development ranks of former club Arrows. ‘Ginger’ as he is affectionately known in football circles would then graduate to being assistant coach of their DStv Diski Challenge side, and now Pirates are thought be have registered their interest in bringing him back to that level at the helm of their youngsters.
According to a source speaking to The Citizen, Zothwane has plenty of admirers in the Pirates camp, who are convinced about his compatibility to the club.

“They have been monitoring his progress as a coach and are very impressed with how well he has done so far. They have also researched his coaching style and found that it is in line with the club’s philosophy,” said the source
