Orlando Pirates made no new signings for the January transfer window but they SECRETLY send one of their strikers out on loan.

The Buccaneers never made any announcement regarding departures and arrivals on PSL transfer deadline day.

However, young striker Simiso Bophela is no longer at Pirates as he will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Venda Football Academy (VFA).

VFA announced Bophela as their new signing alongside the likes of Jabulani Maluleke, Thembi Nevhulamba, Figo Matha, Rophney Hlungwane and Lufuno Mulaudzi.

Venda Football Academy is campaigning in the GladAfrica Championship, and Pirates are hoping the 21-year-old can get as much game time there.

BOPHELA SEEN AS ORLANDO PIRATES FUTURE

Bophela is seen as one of the future stars for Pirates after showing so much potential during his time with the club’s Diski Challenge team.

He was promoted to the Pirates first team at the start of the season, and while he was given some minutes, the technical team still don’t think he’s ready for the challenge.

And that’s because Kwame Peprah appears to be finding his feet at Pirates while the likes of Vincent Pule and Thembinkosi Lorch are expected to add firepower upfront.

Bophela will draw inspiration from the fact that players such as Innocent Maela and Zakhele Lepasa earned their stripes while playing in the GladAfrica Championship.
