Orlando Pirates have stepped up their efforts to sign Royal AM striker Victor Letsoalo and are even reportedly willing to part with Gabadinho Mhango in exchange.

Pirates have been linked with Letsoalo rigorously even after the transfer window had closed, and are now said to be willing to offer Mhango to Royal AM in exchange.

Letsoalo was originally linked with Chiefs

Letsoalo was originally thought to be a Kaizer Chiefs target before and during the previous transfer window, but rumours linking the player to Naturena began to gradually die down as the window drew to a close. Then in a rather swift turn of events, their arch-rivals Pirates were credited with an interest in joining their Soweto rivals in the chase for his signature.

In the last couple of months, however, the rumours have seemingly become more and more one side, with Letsoalo linked to the black and white side of Soweto. Talk on Chiefs has continued to go quiet while the Pirates rumours continued to gain momentum. Last month, the talk was that the Bafana Bafana had his sights on a move to Gauteng either in January or at the end of his Royal AM contract in July next year, despite the club being keen to extend his deal.

Royal AM owner quashing all talk

Then not too long ago, Royal AM owner Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize went on different media platforms to quash any talk of Letsoalo joining either Chiefs or Pirates. But that has never stopped anybody from moving in the past and if the latest reports are to be believed, the Buccaneers have been left far from deterred, instead feeling like they have the perfect trump card for the situation, according to a source speaking to The Citizen

Source confirms Pirates’ master plan including Mhango

“The coaches really want Letsoalo especially (Mandla) Ncikazi who is a long time admirer of the striker. They have presented to management that they must try to get him and they would then have a formidable squad. I have heard they might be offering Mhango and other two players as part of the deal. I am not sure who the other two players are at the moment,” said the source.

Mhango has been marred in quite a lot of controversy over the past couple of months, which even led to sources saying Pirates owner Irvin Khoza was close to pulling the plug on the player. Later, news came out that the club are looking to assess all the players’ commitment to the cause and would consider severing ties with trouble makers even as soon as January, added further fuel to the Letsoalo-Mhango swap deal.
