Has Romeo found his Juliet?

Kermit opened the scoring in Pirates’ emphatic 3-0 MTN8 semifinal second leg win against former club Sundowns, and it was Monnapule Saleng who laid on the assist. When Saleng scored a double against Golden Arrows in the league on October 18th, guess who created both of the goals? You know who.

Orlando Pirates looking to cook up some chemistry

Although Pirates blew Sundowns away in the semifinals, they’ve lacked consistent attacking chemistry in recent weeks. In their first four matches of October, Bucs scored just once and that was a Veli Mothwa own goal against MTN8 final opponents AmaZulu.

Since then, Saleng has been the outstanding player for Pirates with four goals, including braces against Arrows in the DStv Premiership and Sundowns in the aforementioned MTN8 semifinals.

Erasmus’ opener in that 3-0 thrashing of the Brazilians means that only two Pirates players got on the score sheet in the month of October. Football is all about chemistry, and manager Riveiro will be praying that Erasmus and the in-form Saleng can combine to deadly effect on a more consistent basis.

Every Romeo needs a Juliet.
