Orlando Pirates and Nkanyiso Zungu’s fans were very sad to learn that the elegant midfielder found himself in police handcuffs on Sunday. The event followed after the club celebrated a fantastic 3-0 win over Royal Leopards in the CAF Confederation Cup in Soweto.

ORLANDO PIRATES: SIX ARRESTS IN SIX YEARS

The following will not make for really good reading especially if you’re touchy with your passion for the Buccaneers.

Unfortunately for the club, the Pirates brand has been tarnished as a club that is synonymous with ill-disciplined footballers.

Six reported arrests in six years make it rather challenging to defend the Soweto giants.

Here is a list of the arrests in the past six years:

  1. Thabo Rakhale, March 2017: Allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in Vereeniging.
  2. Happy Jele, September 2017: Arrested for speeding at 223km/hour in a 120km/h zone.
  3. Thabo Matlaba, March 2018: Allegedly assaulted a woman in Tembisa.
  4. Thembinkosi Lorch, September 2020: Alleged assault on his girlfriend in Midrand.
  5. Ben Motshwari, September 2021: Handed himself to police for assault in Randfontein.
  6. Nkanyiso Zungu, March 2022: Arrested for unconfirmed charge in Moffatview.

Meanwhile, more details are expected to emerge on Zungu’s arrest on Sunday night.

Orlando Pirates are now preparing to take on SuperSport United on Wednesday in Soweto for a DStv Premiership game.
