‘I said bye… left the WhatsApp group’ – Pirates legend Jele

This doesn’t sound good. Departed Orlando Pirates legend Happy Jele obviously sounds unhappy with his former club.

Orlando Pirates management and fans might be left emotional after this. The Sea Robbers‘ departed skipper Happy Jele has confirmed a rather dramatic exit out of the club.

ORLANDO PIRATES LEGEND JELE NEVER SAID PROPER GOODBYES

After a staggering 16 years at Bucs, we all thought the 35-year-old Jele was safe and secure in terms of working for the club as an official in some capacity.

However, the Soweto giants shocked us all by announcing the Middelburg-born player’s departure over a week ago.

The player has since come out to the public to chat about his exit, and he is unclearly disappointed.

Asked whether he had a chance to say goodbye to his teammates and club staff, which is the standard tradition at training grounds worldwide, Jele said no such thing happened.

Instead, he sent his goodbye via the club’s WhatsApp group before the app told the team Jele has left the group. We’ve all seen those on our phones and they’re rather dramatic.

“No, I didn’t even goto training,” Jele told Soccer Laduma’s Tumi Gabonamong in the latest edition.

“I just left and sent my goodbyes on the WhatsApp group chat and I left the group afterwards.

“I didn’t get a chance to meet the new coach, unfortunately,” Jele said.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO SAY PROPER GOODBYE

The former Walter Starz defender further revealed that his hopes were to make his way to Rand Stadium to hug his teammates and the club staff goodbye.

Unfortunately, the team and staff were away from the City of Gold.

“I had actually wanted to goto training and say goodbye to everyone, but they weren’t around Johannesburg,” Jele added.

“They are away on pre-season camp and obviously I can’t go there.

“The right way would have obviously to bid them farewell at training and wish them luck in person, but they are away currently,” the player known as ‘Magents’ concluded.

Meanwhile, the former Bucs captain is determined to find a new team to continue playing his football before hanging up his boots.
