‘Teko got into his Aston Martin and left ‘ – ex Pirates star

A former Orlando Pirates striker has made a big statement. He believes Teko Modise’s departure inspired the club to success.

Former Orlando Pirates striker Thulasizwe Mbuyane has remembered the Buccaneers’ success in the context of Teko Modise’s departure.

TEKO MODISE’S EXIT HELPED ORLANDO PIRATES

Asked what inspired change and the 2011/12 treble success inside the club, Mbuyane said one of the big factors was Teko Modise’s departure to Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to Mbuyane, Modise’s superstar status and low interaction with his teammates affected the camp.

“It was the departure of Teko, going to Sundowns,” Mbuyane said via TK Solutions TV on YouTube.

“After Teko left, I don’t know what happened. He was just very quiet. He would just train and play matches. With the rest of us, we interacted with each other a lot more.

“We would do things like sit in each other’s hotel rooms for chats and then go to sleep.

“With Teko, he would just train and get into his Aston Martin and leave. Training, starting his car, and going,” the Mamelodi-born former star added.

HE WAS A GREAT GUY, BUT…

“Donna is a great guy, I don’t want to lie – but he was a guy that needed his space.

“You could not goto him to say you had a problem. He was more closer to [Lehlohonolo] Seema and Katlego Mashego,” the former Pirates forward added.
