During a reflective chat with Soccer Laduma, the Durban-born former star said he enjoyed decent money in KwaZulu Natal before moving to the City of Gold.

“I’ve never had a problems with money at any team I’ve played for because I was given good money and many thought I joined Orlando Pirates because of money,” Manqana said.

Additionally, Manqana was able to secure deals without an agent’s expertise.

“I didn’t leave KZN because of money, it has never been a challenge. The reality is that Lamontville Golden Arrows paid me well and another factor, I never had an agent, so I didn’t split my salary.

“My family knew everything about my movements and I didn’t consult anyone but right now I can see players are making serious money. It’s just that there’s lack of good advice and some have to split with agents.

“Finances really affect football, some teams really can’t pay a player money to sustain themselves after football and that’s why some players move to other teams,” he concluded.
