The Orlando Pirates pressure is back on high heat after Wednesday’s Nedbank Cup last 16 defeat to Marumo Gallants. Like deja vu, changes have been demanded.

ORLANDO PIRATES LEGEND WANTS MANAGEMENT CHANGE

According to the former central midfield star, Thabo Mngomeni, the Buccaneers need to consider employing former players in management as Mamelodi Sundowns did.

The DStv Premiership champions have the likes of Daniel Mudau, Peter Ndlovu, Esrom Nyandoro et al working at the club.

“I don’t think the problem should be directed to the coaches only, why can’t we also look at the whole team in trying to get things right?” Mngomeni said via Soccer Laduma.

“When I talk about the team, I’m talking about everyone from the top (management) down to the players and everyone. “

“Why can’t we (Pirates) copy from Sundowns and bring people who played for the club to be part of the team? It is just an idea that I have, and I am not saying that it would make things to be alright immediately, but I think it would help to alleviate the situation,” he added.

ONE COACH TO ASSIST MANDLA NCIKAZI

The Langa-born former player, who was known as “Jah-Man” based on his practise of the Rastafari religion, added to suggested a technical team change.

It is not clear if Mngomeni suggests Fadlu Davids should leave or remain as the third coach, but he believes Dan Malesela would complement Mandla Ncikazi.

“I don’t think the problem at Pirates is a coach’s problem. In fact, I would be glad if Ncikazi could be retained for longer and just bring him someone like Dan Malesela to work with him.

“I would love to see that happen. Dan Dance played football in this country, and he understands a lot about it, and I think he and Ncikazi would make the perfect combination as a coaching duo,” Mngomeni added.
