Orlando Pirates coach, Milutin Sedojevic says he hopes the Buccaneers faithful will show up in numbers in the clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at Orlando Stadium on Monday.

The match was originally set to take place on Saturday, 27 April but was moved to a much earlier date to accommodate the visitors’ run in the Caf Champions League.

The new date for the fixture is Monday 1 April, and presents an opportunity for the Soweto giants – whose campaign in the continental competition ended before the international break – to get a firm grasp on their title aspirations.

Speaking in a radio interview on SAFM, the Serb emphasised the importance of the clash.

“Look, this one of the seven remaining matches. It is very important. It is a six-pointer. It comes after the Fifa break, and it is very unpredictable,” Sredojevic said.

“No one has ever won a match by talking. We are doing the best possible preparations knowing that matches against Sundowns always need special attention to details.

“It will be a very tough match against a very good team with top players and top coach on the opposite bench.”

Mamelodi Sundowns summit the PSL log with 43 points, three ahead of the third-placed Orlando Pirates.

A victory for the hosts could see them replace the log leaders at the top, ahead of what is another tough fixture away to fellow title hopefuls Bidvest Wits, who are currently second on the table.

Sredojevic urged fans to come lend their voice behind the club on Monday.

“I would like to invite all of our supporters to come and give us support because that player number 12 at the Orlando Stadium will be the factor,” he said.

“Small details will decide the match. We want to bring those details to our side. Player number 12, as it has been throughout this season, they have always been with us through thick and thin.

“I would like to thank them. We really feel their support and we will do our best in the upcoming match.”
