Pirates icon Sono gives massive Zwane opinion and plea

Orlando Pirates legend Jomo Sono has made another big statement. The message is on Mamelodi Sundowns’ Themba Zwane.

Orlando Pirates icon Jomo Sono may believe no Bucs player deserves the number 10 shirt, but he does know who is due the shirt at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Zwane, known as “Mshini,” has probably earned the most honourable recognition he may ever wish for. The great Jomo Sono has said the Tembisa-born player is as talented as he was.

“The number 10 jersey of Sundowns should go to Themba Zwane instead of Sirino,” Sono said via SABC Sport as shared by @Thabiso Mosia on Twitter.

“He plays like I used to play. People pay to go watch people like Themba. No 10 is an exciting footballer. I’m speaking from the bottom of my heart not because he’s South African,” the former Pirates hero concluded.

Staying with Sundowns, Pirates’ Erasmus was seen having an emotional go at coach Rhulani Mokwena at the FNB Stadium following a red card incident for Thapelo Xoki after a nasty tackle on Hashim Domingo.

The Sundowns mentor was left saying he was deeply disappointed in the player fondly known as ‘Romeo.’

The club’s former player Katlego Mashego has since offered his thoughts on the event.

“I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what was said and triggered that but we can all hide behind emotions, but the respect between a player and coach should always be there,” Mashego said. Read the full story here.
