Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro is already looking ahead to next season. Here are his early expectations for 2023/24.

Orlando Pirates are withing reach of two trophies and a CAF Champions League spot. Here is what coach Jose Riveiro is expecting for himself and his players.

ORLANDO PIRATES COACH LOOKS AHEAD TO NEXT SEASON

According to the ever-cool Spaniard, finishing second to advance to the CAF Champions League will provide the challenges he and his players deserve and desire.

“Because we are Orlando Pirates, and the next season, hopefully is going to be more busy,” the Pirates tactician said via FARPost.

“That’s the mentality that we need. We need to be ready to play every two or three days when the schedule is asking for that.

“It’s obviously not just playing but playing to win every two or three days. Thats our mandate or obligation.

“When you are playing for a big team and you want to find yourself in finals or fighting for titles. Thats the mentality you need to develop. Otherwise the rest of the time, you’ll need to take care of yourself. They like it, they like playing so much. As a coach I don’t mind having three days in between games. 

“If we want to play in Africa, this is a good test because it will happen frequently. It’s a good test, mentally and physically.

“Personally, I’m learning alot from this. I am able to see the kind of training that is needed. Once we start the game, we think about what we need to do and the result,” Riveiro concluded.

SINKY MNISI TO REPLACE FLOYD MBELE?

Staying with Pirates, the club is in the middle of a major management rushuffle.

The mighty Pirates are set to welcome a new Administrative Manager, with Floyd Mbele having tended in his resignation on Monday.

As announced by the Soweto giants on Monday, the Sea Robbers confirmed the departure of Football Administrator Floyd Mbele.

“Orlando Pirates has accepted the resignation of the club’s Administration Manager, Mr Floyd Mbele. The Club Management wishes him the best in his future endeavours,” Pirates said on the club’s website.


As previously reported by the South African website in March
, local outlet Unplayable shared an exclusive audio where the former Highlands Park and Royal AM executive, Sinky Mnisi, claimed he is heading to the Sea Robbers.
