Orlando Pirates’ new analyst looks set to revamp their technical team for the 2024/2025 new season, as per iDiski Times

Pirates have made a strategic move by securing a new analyst, Devon O’Brien, from Stellenbosch FC. Which is aimed at strengthening their technical staff so that they can eventually challenge for the league title. 

Changes in the Technical staff

Despite concluding last season with another domestic double, Pirates face changes as they enter the new campaign without the Spaniards Sergio Almenara and Miguel Bellver. They have departed for personal reasons during the previous season. Almenara confirmed his exit following their Nedbank Cup triumph.

This shift marks a significant adjustment for the Pirates. Who now seek to integrate new talent into their coaching and analytical framework. So that they can sustain their competitive edge.

New Analyst joins the ranks

While negotiations continue for a replacement assistant coach. Sources within the club have confirmed that Devon O’Brien has been appointed as the new analyst. O’Brien himself announced his departure from Stellenbosch FC via social media over the weekend.

His expertise in data analysis and performance metrics is expected to enhance the Pirates’ tactical planning and player development strategies. Which is crucial for navigating the challenges of the upcoming season.

The addition of O’Brien enriches an already formidable technical team. As Orlando Pirates strive to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership next season. Plans for backroom staff expansion

Following their Nedbank Cup victory, Orlando Pirates announced plans to strengthen their backroom staff. “The Club – in consultation with the head coach – will use the offseason break to recruit suitable replacements and enhance the technical, analysis, medical, and conditioning departments,” they declared.

This proactive approach underscores Pirates’ commitment to building a comprehensive support structure that fosters both individual player growth and team cohesion throughout the rigorous season ahead.

Awards and accolades for Patrick Maswanganyi

In other noteworthy news, Orlando Pirates’ Patrick “Tito” Maswanganyi was a standout at the 2024 PSL awards, securing three prestigious accolades. His achievements earned him combined prize money totaling R400,000.

Player’s Player of the Season: 

Maswanganyi was voted Player’s Player of the Season by his peers, receiving prize money of R200,000.

Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament: 

His exceptional performance in the Nedbank Cup, scoring four goals and assisting three others in five games, earned him R150,000.

DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season: 

Maswanganyi’s outstanding contributions in midfield also earned him an additional R50,000.

Patrick Maswanganyi’s success underscores a remarkable debut season at Orlando Pirates following his transfer from SuperSport United ahead of the 2023/24 season.
