Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns told to forget about prospect signing

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns may have to forget about the prospect of signing one of the rising PSL starlets.

Bongokuhle Hlongwane is the player that has been heavily linked with a possible move to either Pirates or Sundowns.

However, Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has confirmed that Hlongwane will not be leaving the club this transfer window.

Kadodia’s assurance to Maritzburg United fans comes a few days after the club agreed to sell Thabiso Kutumela to Sundowns.

And what’s interesting is that Kadodia didn’t only say Hlongwane will stay at Martizburg Untied but maintained the striker is NOT for sale.

“Yes, we have cleared Kutumela to Sundowns. We have always offered our players a chance to seek greener pastures every time they get opportunities,” Kadodia told KickOff.

“But Bongokuhle Hlongwane is not for sale. He is going to remain with Maritzburg United next season,” confirmed Kadodia.

Hlongwane, 21, is one of the young players who recently graduated to be part of the Bafana Bafana setup under Hugo Broos.

Hlongwane has featured 41 times for the Team of Choice since making his professional debut, and has six goals and five assists to his name.
