Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkosi Lorch has reportedly handed in a transfer request to the club in an effort to seal a move abroad.

According to a Phakaaathi source, Lorch has received an enticing offer from an unnamed Belgian club, and the player is keen to leave at the end of the season.

And with Lorch still contracted to Pirates, the management may look to cash-in on the player to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires.

“He humbly went to the club to ask that they release him,” said the source.

“Obviously his suitors will have to fork out big bucks for him as he is one of the prized assets in that Pirates team.”

According to the publication, Lorch has already spoken to Pirates chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza who in turn has to assess the said offer before making an informed decision.

“The deal looks promising because he has even spoken to the chairman (Irvin Khoza) and he was not against the idea but he will have to be satisfied with the offer first,” concluded the source.

The latest news comes just days before the Soweto derby match against Kaizer Chiefs in which the Pirates technical team is hoping to have Lorch back on the pitch.
