Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus has addressed rumours that he was wanted by both Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City in the previous transfer window.

At the time, Erasmus was on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, and it became clear that he wasn’t part of the technical team’s plans for the current season.

The fact that his jersey No.11 was handed to new signing Marcelo Allende coupled with the proposed loan deal he rejected infuriated Erasmus.

And reports started doing the rounds that Erasmus could be leaving Sundowns, and at the time, Chiefs were desperately hunting for a quality striker.

However, according to Erasmus, Chiefs never showed any interest in him perhaps because they knew how difficult it would have been for them to get him.

Erasmus said he even called Cape Town City chairman John Comitis to find out if they had been in talks with Sundowns over his possible return to the Mother City.

Ultimately, it was Pirates who won the race as they managed to twist Sundowns’ arm and bring in Erasmus for his second spell.

CHIEFS WERE NEVER INTERESTED IN PIRATES’ KERMIT ERASMUS

“As far as Chiefs is concerned, there was never any interest from them,” said Erasmus in an interview on SAFM.

“It was just talk on social media but there was no offer. I even called John (Comitis) to find out if they, (Cape Town City) had approached Downs, he said no.”
