Struggling Cape Town City can take a major step towards getting out of their slump when they host Wits in a Saturday night PSL clash.

Wits appear to be Kaizer Chiefs’ main competitors in the title race after seeing off Bloemfontein Celtic 3-2 in midweek to move within 11 points of Amakhosi with three games in hand.

The Clever Boys fell 2-1 behind, but late goals from Haashim Domingo and Gift Motupa sealed all three points.

While Wits look to reign in Kaizer Chiefs, Cape Town City are looking to recover from an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to the same side.

“Not so difficult, football is about scoring goals and if they score three and we score zero, it’s good they deserve to win,” Olde Riekerink told SuperSport TV after the match, also lamenting the way his team defended high balls.

Defender Taariq Fielies told the media at Wednesday’s training session that the coach had yet to discuss the problem with defending aerial balls directly with his players.

“I think he’s still going to come to that point [addressing the situation with the team],” Fielies said.

The 27-year-old is one of several players who has not quite looked himself this season. City will need all hands on deck if they are to halt Wits’ winning machine.
