Pirates have been playing the majority of this DStv Premiership season without a few key players, but that could be set to change soon.

A combination of injuries and ill discipline hampering Pirates

It has not only been a whole raft of injuries that have resulted in the loss of certain players for Pirates, however, as the lack of discipline that has been going around in their camp of late, has also attributed to certain key players missing crucial matches for the Buccaneers.

The likes of star forward Thembinkosi Lorch, strikers Zakhele Lepasa, Gabadinho Mhango and midfielder Ben Motshwari have been missing in action for the majority of the season for Pirates for various reasons. Lorch suffered a mysterious shoulder injury, Lepasa suffered a serious leg injury that has kept him out for close to a year now, while Mhango and Motshwari’s disciplinary issues have been well documented in the media.

Additional casualties

Besides the names mentioned above the likes of Innocent Maela and new signing Goodman Mosele have also been recent absentees in the Pirates squad. Ahead of the Sea Robbers’ fixture against Sekhukhune United, the trio of Lorch, Lepasa and Mosele were seen jogging together away from the main group while Mhango was training with the rest of the squad.
