“It was not nice on my side but yes, I went through it all and I have succeeded at the end of the day. Here I am working for the Black and White again.” Orlando Pirates new signing Mabena told Metro FM as quoted by SoccerLaduma.

“But mentally, I think was ready, I was strong and with all the support I was getting from the family, I think, that’s why I went through this [case] not alone but with them as well.

“And today I’ve succeeded by getting a contract with the Black and White and they are happy for me as well.

“They (Orlando Pirates) are still supporting me the way they were supporting me. We had to go through the DRC.

“I won the case and after that there was a rule that came out but nothing was being done. So we had to go to the Labour Court, that’s when everything started.”

Mabena took pay-cut to secure Bucs return

Mabena reportedly took a pay-cut in order to secure his return to the Mayfair based club.

According to reports, Mabena was happy to take a play cut in order to once again don the colours of the mighty Buccaneers.

“According to a source, Mabena would have done anything in order to sign with Orlando Pirates.” a Citizen report read.

“Mabena was said to have had the Pirates management divided on signing him. Some of the board members believed signing a 35-year old is a waste of money.

“In the end, after discussions with the players and his representative, a small salary was agreed upon and the striker was just happy to sign on the dotted line.”

Ex Bafana Bafana captain calls for FFP rules

“If one looks back at four or five seasons ago, the PSL was interesting and everyone had an opportunity to win the leagues and it was very competitive.” The former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain told IOL.

“It is obviously also down to how other teams fight (to win games), but for teams to be able to weaken other teams I think is very unfair.
