Former Bafana Bafana and Sundowns star Kermit Erasmus has decided that his time at Orlando Pirates is up. Where will the veteran move next?

Mother City calling for Romeo?

According to Soccer-Laduma, Kermit Erasmus is being watched by his former club Cape Town City. The 33-year-old former Rennes and Feyenoord striker hinted at a move when he announced he signed for a new management agency. He has made just six league appearances all season. World Soccer Magazine named Erasmus one of the 50 most talented young players in world football in a piece titled “The 50 most exciting teenagers on the planet” in 2007. That list included Karim Benzema, Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria, Gareth Bale and Alexandre Pato. Kermit has represented 11 clubs across five countries throughout his career. It’s been quite a ride.

“The Siya crew understands that City is a possible destination for the 33-year-old, having previously made an impact at the club before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020. Erasmus enjoyed his football while he was at City, finding the back of the net regularly during his time at the club. The club had previously signed players who made an impact while they were in their 30s. Both Teko Modise and Mpho Makola made a good contribution at the club in the latter years of their careers,” they said.

MIXED ORLANDO PIRATES NEWS AHEAD OF NEDBANK CUP FINAL

Midfield orchestrator Miguel Timm is a major doubt for the Nedbank Cup final against Sundowns on 1 June after missing the 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy. Key defender Tapelo Xoki is definitely ruled out. However, it’s not all doom and gloom with new fan favourite Thalente Mbatha back in the fold after his suspension. The on-loan SuperSport man has been a hit in the engine room, making 12 outings in the league. Versatile Namibian star Deon Hotto could also return.
