Orlando Pirates have reportedly completed their first MAJOR signing ahead of the start of the new season in the form of Thalente Mbatha.

Mbatha is currently on loan at Pirates from SupeSport United but the Soweto giants had negotiated an option to make the deal permanent.

Now, according to Soccer Laduma, Pirates are impressed with Mbatha and they have now secured his services for the next three seasons.

The publication further reports that Mbatha will seal his permanent move to Pirates by signing on the dotted line after the Nedbank Cup final.

Pirates will take on SuperSport United neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns in the final set to be staged at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, 1 June.

And Mbatha is expected to form part of Jose Riveiro’s matchday squad after showing great potential since his move to Pirates.

ORLANDO PIRATES SECURE FIRST NEW SIGNING – REPORT

“The Siya crew understands Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United will finalise a permanent move for midfielder Thalente Mbatha after the Nedbank Cup final, with a three-year deal expected to be completed,” reads part of the report.

“Mbatha signed a loan deal in the January transfer window, with Pirates having an option to make the deal permanent.

“As things stand, Pirates are preparing to make the deal permanent and the Siya crew has been informed that all the figures have been pre-agreed, so, the two clubs will not be opening fresh negotiations.”

MBATHA DID THE MOST TO EARN BUCS TRUST

Despite only arriving in January and making his debut in February, one would say Mbatha has done the most to earn the trust of the Pirates fans.

He has amassed 12 league appearances, scored a single goal and provided one assists since his arrival at Pirates.

And his rise comes at a time when the majority of football fans begin to question Gavin Hunt’s eye for talent after he couldn’t guarantee Mbatha game time at SuperSport United.

Hunt did the same with the late Luke Fleurs who ended up signing for Pirates arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent after his release from SuperSport United.

Fleurs, however, passed away without kicking a ball in competitive match for the Glamour Boys in April this year.
