Orlando Pirates have done it again. The Sea Robbers have unveiled a new unexpected head coach. The name is José Riveiro from Spain.

The five-time PSL champions confirmed that the 46-year-old coach has put pen to paper on a three-year contract. Additionally, he will take over as head coach with Mandla Ncikazi set to work as his assistant.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of José Riveiro to the position of Head Coach. Riveiro joins Pirates on a three-year deal,” the club announced.

Riveiro will be coming in with two assistants in Sergio Almenara and Miguel Bellver Esteve as the fitness trainer.

So what has the new man at Bucs done before coming to Johannesburg? The Spaniard previously worked in Finland for FC Inter Turku.

Riveiro, who favours a 3-4-2-1 formation, took charge of 103 games for the Turku, which included 33 defeats, 13 draws, and 56 victories.

The Spaniard, who is yet to lift silverware in his careers, has three other gigs in his profile as an assistant coach at HJK Helsinki, Pallokerho-35, and FC Honka (all Finland).
