Imagine Bucs legend Benni McCarthy back at Orlando Pirates except this time he is on the sidelines coaching.

Orlando Pirates are in the market for a new coach.

Furthermore, they have hinted at shock changes to the Bucs coaching staff. Interestingly, a club legend is likely about to become available, according to SNL. His name is Benni McCarthy. Therefore, Pirates could consider making an offer for their club legend if he becomes available.

Pirates have prioritized their search for an assistant coach. Meanwhile, as mentioned, several technical appointments could be made.

“Pirates stated that the club – with consultation of Riveiro – will look to use this offseason break to find suitable replacement/s as well as bolster the backroom staff in the technical, analysis, medical and conditioning departments,” the report read on The Citizen.

So, McCarthy is the current Manchester United attack coach. Moreover, he has coached the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Jaden Sancho. Additionally, McCarthy has coached Cape Town City and AmaZulu. Essentially, he has PSL experience too. Whilst, his reputation precedes him. He is Bafana Bafana’s top goal-scorer of all time and a Pirates legend. He is also the only South African to win the UEFA Champions League. Meaning, he would be a favourite pick amongst fans and inspire his team going forward.

It must be noted that neither party has expressed interest in this deal as yet.

However, McCarthy’s recent Kaizer Chiefs hints should leave Bucs fans hopeful.

McCarthy stated that he would not say no to Chiefs. However, it is his reasoning that will leave Bucs fans hopeful.

Interestingly, this is on the basis of them being an institution. Meaning, he respects the club, their achievements and how big they are in SA. Likewise, Pirates is an institution and one that has bigger ambitions ahead of the next season. The Bucs qualified for the CAF Champions League. Therefore, they should seriously consider McCarthy as one of their new additions ahead of their return to the CAFCL. If he would consider Chiefs, he would probably consider his former side too. Furthermore, are in the same region and will be playing in Africa next season.
