Former Orlando Pirates coach lined up for return to PSL rivals!

A former Orlando Pirates head coach is now one of the favourites to join the coaching staff of one of the strongest sides in the DStv Premiership.

A former Orlando Pirates head coach is now one of the favourites to join the coaching staff of one of the strongest sides in the DStv Premiership.

We have seen some massive movements amongst the Bucs coaching staff in recent months.

First, Fadlu Davids was axed and Benni McCarthy was linked with the Pirates head coaching role. Mandla Ncikazi seemed certain to face the axe but to the surprise of many, he was maintained by Irvin Khoza and the Buccaneers’ management. Then, out of nowhere, Jose Riveiro was named, a coach who was unknown to South Africans at the time.

FORMER PIRATES COACH SET FOR RETURN TO PSL RIVALS

Fadlu Davids has been shortlisted as a potential replacement to Brandon Truter at AmaZulu, according to SoccerLaduma.

This, after Usuthu’s poor recent run of form in the DStv Premiership. They have not won a single one of their last four matches, losing three and drawing one. If this continues, Truter may face the axe.

Former Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids is being lined up for a return to the PSL where he could take over from Brandon Truter at AmaZulu.

ZUNGU’S INTENT MAY SIGNAL AN OPPORTUNITY FOR DAVIDS

Sandile Zungu has made his intentions clear – he wants his side to compete for top honours across competitions this season.

They brought in some big names from the lies of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Completing deals for Gabadinho Mhango, Dumisani Zuma, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Sibusiso Mabiliso and even Bafana Bafana international, Ethan Brooks. Truter and Zungu also brought Larry Bwalya from Simba SC.

On paper, this is a side that should be able to push for top honours. However, they have not been playing to their potential and now the pressure is on Truter to produce results – and fast.

He is running out of time and if these poor results continue he may be replaced by Davids.

For now, he may be saved by the international break. There will be no PSL action until 4 October 2022.

Usuthu will be on action on 5 October when they take on the league’s hottest newcomers, Richards Bay at home.
