Ben Motshwari’s future at Orlando Pirates is up in the air according to latest transfer rumours.

2023 has been a year to forget for the former Bafana Bafana midfielder. The 32-year-old has played just 50 minutes of football for the Buccaneers this year.

The arrival of Miguel Timm and Makhehlene Makhaula has sent the former preferred middle-man down in the pecking order.

Motshwari’s contract at the Buccaneers runs out at the end of the season and according to reports, it won’t be renewed!

Orlando Pirates to let go of midfielder – report

“Ben knows what is going on, there is no beating around the bush about his situation. His contract is ending and the club is not really interested in extending his stay.” a Citizen report read.

“The management and the technical staff already have plans for next season, they know what they need and Ben is not part of the plans.

“But he is okay with everything, he knows that he served Orlando Pirates really well and if they don’t want him he can’t do anything about it.

“There is no way that he can stay at the club and not get as much game time as he would like.

“He thinks playing for Hunt will be good for him plus they have a very good understanding. SuperSport is a good team and they have a very good squad. He will fit in nicely there.”

“As far as the team wanting him to go on another loan is as good as done.” a source told SoccerLaduma.

“They want him to gain the necessary experience so that when he comes back he can fit into the team and play.

“Pirates know he is a good player but they just want him to gain more experience.

“Chippa wants to keep him beyond June this year but it will depend if there are no other teams interested in him.

“And also look at the conditions of the other teams as well as Chippa, then (Orlando Pirates) will decide where he can go on loan for next season.”
