Former Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu star midfielder joins Richards Bay FC!

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Luvuyo Memela has joined PSL rookies Richards Bay just days after being linked with a return to AmaZulu.

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Luvuyo Memela has joined PSL rookies Richards Bay FC just days after being linked with a return to AmaZulu.

Memela was released by Usuthu at the end of last season, and thus, ending his two-year relationship with the Durban-based outfit.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Memela had linked up with his AmaZulu teammates at the training grounds as they couldn’t find a suitable replacement for him.

Now, the Memela return to AmaZulu has taken a new twist with the left-footer now being unveiled by the Natal Rich Boyz ahead of the new season.

In his latest interview, AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu said they would have liked to keep Memela beyond the expiry of his contract in June.

However, after negotiating a new deal, both Memela and AmaZulu couldn’t agree terms, and that was the end of the road for the ex-Pirates man.

“Luvuyo Memela was one of the players that did well for the club last season. Even his teammates recognised him by voting him as player’s player of the season for AmaZulu,” said Zungu at the club’s awards on Wednesday.

“We were very pleased with him, but his contract came to an end, we had to negotiate, but unfortunately, we couldn’t agree,” he added.
