As expected, there were several some major upsets in the Round of 32 – none more so than Kaizer Chiefs crashing out at the first stage to lowly TS Galaxy on Saturday.

Joining the Soweto giants on the scrap heap were fellow DStv Premiership sides Sekhukhune United, Cape Town City FC, Stellenbosch FC, Chippa United, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United and AmaZulu.

That leaves only eight DStv Premiership sides left in the tournament.

This year’s Nedbank Cup tournament marks the 15th season since the banking giants took over as the tournament’s sponsor.

The top prize is unchanged at R7 million, meaning the Nedbank Cup remains the second biggest cup competition in South Africa after the MTN8 which offers R8 million to its winner.

The winner will also receive a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup competition.
