Chiefs were credited with the early interest in Mendieta, in fact they’re thought to be two years into their interest in the Argentine star. Club sporting director Kaizer Motaung Junior has also come out publicly to confirm the club’s interest in the player saying: “ Of course Mendieta is down to Stellenbosch’s strategic outlook for him. We know he is contracted and I think as time goes on we will see who where we are. He is a top talent. We would like to have him, we would like to have (Khanyisa Mayo) all these are great players. Our supporters mentioning their names, shows they understand the game, but the coach and his staff will give us an indication of their requirements, we don’t sign the players and present them to the coach, the coaches will guide us on this one” to Radio200.
