Nasreddine Nabi will soon be confirmed as the new Kaizer Chiefs head coach. Here’s all you need to know about the Tunisian.

Serial winner

At his previous post with Young Africans in Tanzania, Nabi secured back-to-back trebles in unprecedented fashion. The stars may have aligned for him in those instances, but it’s still an unbelievably impressive feat to repeat. This season, his FAR Rabat side has let a healthy lead slip and is now a point adrift of Josef Zinnbauer’s Raja Casablanca going into the final day of the Botola Pro 1 season. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he pulled a rabbit out of a hat though. Nabi’s side face FUS Rabat on Friday 14 June at 19:00. This local derby clash will decide the destination of the title.

Nasreddine Nabi was born in Monastir, Tunisia in 1965 and has dual Tunisian and Belgian citizenship. Vastly experienced, he’s held head coaching roles in Libya, Sudan, Egypt, Italy, Tanzania and Morocco.

Having got to grips with African football, especially in the North, Nasreddine Nabi will have plenty of tactical nous in his toolbox. Amakhosi have been crying out for a man with a CV as impressive as this on the continental stage.

FAR Rabat boss Nasreddine Nabi has reiterated his desire to ‘put on a good show’ for the supporters to enjoy and shared the secret to his team’s productivity in front of goal this term. They’ve scored 63 times in 29 matches, 14 more than any other side in the division. This revelation will be particularly pleasing for Kaizer Chiefs fans, who always demand entertaining, attack-minded football. The Glamour Boys only scored 25 times in 30 DStv Prem matches in 2023-2024. That’s an abysmal record.

Benni McCarthy staying at Man United?

SoccerLaduma has reported that Benni McCarthy, a rumoured Kaizer Chiefs target, will stay at Man United if head coach Erik ten Hag gets his way. The 54-year-old Dutchman is on holiday in Ibiza but has met club delegates to iron out a contract extension. According to The Times, Ten Hag has asked the club to hand McCarthy a new contract. The 44-year-old attacking coach’s current terms expire at the end of June.
